Serving as a kitchen cook for the royal court cuisine of the Joseph Dynasty, JANG GEUM aspired to attain the secrets of Korean cooking and traditional medicine.
She was later appointed as the first female royal physician to the King, and she applied the culinary and medicinal secrets that she discovered to the cure of Kings’s illness.
Upon the completion of his treatment , the King awarded Jang Geum the title ” DAE JANG GEUM (Literally The Great Jang Geum)” for sucessfully healing his ailment.
